Note
It can snow a tremendous amount in Hakkoda. As a result, in winter, the road linking Hakkoda and Aomori city is closed between 9PM and 7:30AM, so please take the following into account when making your itinerary;
- If you arrive past 7PM at the airport, Aomori or Shin-Aomori station, taxis will NOT be able to take you to Hakkoda (because they won’t be able to get out) so you will have to spend the night in Aomori city.
- If you arrive in Aomori city before 7:30AM you will have to wait for a short while before a taxi or bus can take you up to Hakkoda
